Covington man arrested for drugs

The 70th alleged drug dealer in less than a year was arrested and charged Wednesday night by the Street Crimes Unit of the Covington Police Department, according to police spokesmen Lt. Jack West.

Miller Baham, 60, 905 W. 30th Avenue, Covington was arrested and charged with one count of distribution of crack cocaine; one count of possession of crack cocaine; and two counts of possession and distribution of Schedule II narcotics in a drug free zone.

West said that Baham was arrested and charged after a two-month investigation. Officers observed Baham selling the drug near his residence. The SWAT team was involved in the arrest due to reports Baham had a handgun. Police said that they arrested and charged Baham at his residence without incident, securing about two grams of cocaine. The handgun was not found.

Covington Police Chief Richard Palmisano said the SWAT team would be used in the future when serving high-risk warrants in order to, "reduce the risk of injury to officers and the perpetrator."
