Slidell police arrested and charged a Slidell man and a Bogalusa man with simple burglary Wednesday afternoon after police officers caught the men coming out of a house with stolen property.

Bobby Pursley, 18, 1735 Lynnwood Drive, Slidell, and Jerome L. Williams, 17, 2165 St. Ann St., Bogalusa were each charged with one count of simple burglary.

The arrest came after Slidell police got a call from a resident in the 1300 block of St. Therese Place who saw two men standing on his front lawn.

The caller said the two men were going door to door in the block, and if someone answered the door, the suspects would tell the homeowner they had knocked on the wrong door.

The caller notified police after he saw the suspects walk into the back yard of one home.

When police arrived, officers found a rear window open at 1330 St. Therese Place. About 10 seconds after going into the back yard, officers saw Pursley and Williams come out the back door.

The two were taken into custody, and while being searched, the police found items that belonged to the homeowner at 1330 St. Therese Place in Pursley's pocket.
